Diabetes

This disease is often accompanied by symptoms that affect the skin. Next to an increased risk of infections patients suffer mainly from dry skin, particularly on the feet where the skin can be particulary rough and scaly. Subsequently cracks can develop and serve as a point of entrance for bacteria. An infection of the leg may occur.

To avoid skin complications a diligent application of skin care products is strongly advised. Creams and lotions with urea (i) and lactate support the lack of natural moisturising factors (i) within diabetic skin and help the skin barrier recover.

Caution: Cracks, itching or moistness between the spaces of the toes or scaling on the sole of the foot can be a first sign of a fungal infection. In this case you should consult a dermatologist, doctor or chiropractor quickly.
