Causes of acne
Blemished skin can be caused by external (exogenous) or internal (endogenous) factors.
Some endogenic factors are:
- hormonal influences (e.g. puberty, pregnancy, menstruation)
- genetically determined sensitivity on comedogen substances
Some exogenic factors are:
- several pharmaceuticals
- stress
- comedogen substances, mainly comedogen cosmetics
Besides the facts that really lead to acne there are some myths concerning the development of acne
Acne is no allergy
Acne is not an allergic reaction on certain foods or amalgam fillings.
Acne is not a contagious disease
Acne is no infectious disease even though it is caused by acne bacteria, which are definitely not contagious.
Acne is not caused by a lack of hygiene

Acne is not caused by junk food or unhealthy eating
